The CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test is an important way for construction workers to show that they can be safe on the job. It’s also a way for them to know that their fellow workers are as safe on the site and not put them at risk of injury.
For employers, having workers who’ve passed the CITB HS&E test is an assurance that their workforce are and can continue to be safe at work.

Structure of the test
The HS&E test is made up of 50 questions covering five core knowledge areas:
Candidates have 45 minutes to answer the 50 questions. The test now includes new question styles. Behavioural case studies are also used in the test to check a candidate’s understanding of health, safety and environmental issues, and how to behave safely on-site.

To be eligible to apply for a CSCS card, you will also need to complete a CITB recognised Health and Safety qualification.
Additional Support Requirements
Voiceover, British Sign Language, Translator. (Please be aware some tests that require additional support will need to be booked at a Person’s Vue centre- we shall contact you to discuss.
Booking details will be kept on record for two years as is required by CITB for audit purposes.
On clarification of booking an automatic email will be sent to confirm primarily booking confirmation. Message on completion of booking and payment to say ‘Initial confirmation of your booking will be sent via email, if you do not receive this email within the next 2 hours, please contact our booking centre to discuss with one of our team.
